- The city
The city is filled of squares and parks with trees, benches to sit, read, sunbathe and games for kids. It also has forests and lakes, an ecological reserve, and two coastal and trees that stained the streets and avenues of green.
They are ideal places to spend the day with the family or friends, outdoors and surrounded by nature, practicing sports like soccer, basketball, volleyball, softball and tennis shoes (many of the parks have adequate infrastructure for these sports). What's more, some are also offering grills, pools and parking. It is common to perform shows in spring and summer.
One of the most famous parks and crowded is the Sarmiento Park.
Parque Lezama - Defensea, Brasil, Av Paseo Colón and Av Martín García.
Parque Lezama saves a lot of history, in the late eighteenth century it was used as the slave depot of the Royal Company of the Philippines. He witnessed the defeat of the last local forces against the first British Invasion in the Barranca de Marco, which we now know as Parque Lezama.
Some time after the English MacKinley David built his country house here in front of the river, known as the British country house. Finally in 1857, and after several owners, Jose Gregorio Lezama bought the house, it surrounded it with a large round iron fence and decorated the garden with trees and exotic plants. During the strong yellow fever epidemic in 1871, the property functioned as a health facility that accomodate and cared for the sick. The property was sold in 1889 after the death of José Lezama under the widow´s condition of making the house a public park with her husband's name, that is why the name of the park.
PARQUE THAYS, its name is honor to the architect and landscaper Carlos Thays. Located on Libertador Av. and Callao Av., in Recoleta , it used to be the fanous Ital Park, one of the most crowded amusement parks. One of the works tahtwe can find in the park is the one made by the Colombian Fernando Botero, a sculpture of a Naked Man´s Torso.
Plaza Libertad. Located in the neighbour of Retiro between the streets Libertad, Marcelo T. de Alvear, Cerrito and Paraguay. In 1780 it was known as the holw of Mrs. Engracia andi t was where the carriges that came from the city parked. By 1822 the square was known with its actual name. Plaza Libertad.
Parque 3 de Febrero.
In Plaermo´s neighbourgood, surrounded by impressive trees, different sculptures, paths, gardens, a magnificent lake. We also find here the Rose Garden, the Garden of teh Poets and the Andalusian Patio. The Park may be visited by foot, bicycle or by carriages pulled by horses, they leave from the gate of the Zoo every day.
ZOO. In the neighbourhood of Palermo, over Las Heras and Sarmiento Avenues, donwtown, we find this subtropicl jungle, with different species of animals, a farm anda n aquarium.
Botanical Garden. Av. Santa Fe and Las Heras, Palermo.
It stands out from the rest of the Gardens of the city for its elegante design, perfect organization and for its great botanical content. Over a 5500 species of trees, bushes, plants and herbs. It was inaugurated in 1898, on September 7. It occupies 6 hectares and it has 5 style Gardens and 5 greenhouses.
Japanese Garden. Av. Casares and Adolfo Berro
This particular and wonderful garden brings to Buenos Aires the exotic beauty of the Eastern Gardens, with plants, flowers, Bridges and waterfalls. In its lake we can see the Karpa fishes, brought directly from Japan, they stand out because of their attractive colors.
Theme Park Tierra Santa, located on the North Coastal, along Rafael Obligado Av 5790, it reproduces Jeruslem over 2000 years ago. It is the only religious park in Latin America.
President Sarmiento Park. Av. Ricardo Balbín 4750
It is one of the biggest and most crowded greeen space in the city, locted in Saavedra´s neighbourhood with around 70 hectares. It is a sport center that offers football, tennis, pelota paleta, handball, beach volley, basket ball, athletism track and rollers, 3 skates and a game for children.
Facing Ciudad University, In Cantilo Avand Güiraldes, there is this wonderful place, ideal to spend the day with family or friends outdoors, with tables and chairs in the shade, with different pools and sports tournaments in the summer.
Barrancas de Belgrano.
Another great green space in the city located in the Avenues L. M. Campos and Juramento, between Calles Zavalía, September 11 and La Pampa streets. A few blocks from Parque Tres de Febrero, or also known as the Palermo Woods, which forms the largest natural lung of the city. Las Barrancas is a place to relax outdoors, play sports (it is common to see people gathered doing gymnastics, aerobics, Tai Chi Chuan, and other arts), walking through the cobbled paths of the nineteenth century, with table games like chess and dominoes among others. It also has a large gazebo where neighbors gather to dance tango and recitals are held. It also offers benches for resting or sitting down to read, games for kids and what is more, it offers a specific area for dispersion of the dogs.

It is the third largest city in Buenos Aires Park, in addition to provide its natural touch to the city, offers an enormous cultural contribution. Surrounded by such cars, the Maria Curie ,cancer, Fundación, aldo of thereare free sjows. During weekends, there is a fair where yoa can buy crafts, old Cds, used books and magazines.

Avellaneda Park, it is the third largest park in the city of Buenos Aires, with about 30 hectares and with a historical, cultural and natural, located at Av Directorio and Lacarra. We find it in: La Casona de Olivera as the seat of government and Exhibition Center, the Old swimming center turned into an art Center.
San Martín Square,located in Santa Fe, Maipú, L. N. Alem avenues and Florida street, in the neighbourhood fo Retiro, it has two completely opposite realities. On the pn hand, we se the elegance of the palace area, where we fonde the Chancery and the Militar Circle. On the other hand, a sad and hard paralel situation, the emergency shanty town under the 9 de Julio motorway, al ost hidden from the Myers of tourists. Retiro is one of the neighbourhoods with more movement, especially Turing the rush hours, as it is where thousand of people arrive or leave each day. It is the leader of three Railway Stations, the Bus Station, and many bus lines.
